⏲️ time[Box] Privacy Policy
Last Updated: February 24, 2025
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how time[Box] (the "app") collects, uses, and protects your information. By using time[Box], you agree to the practices described below. We wrote this policy in clear, plain language to help you understand what data we (the app developers) collect and how we use it, in compliance with Apple's App Store guidelines.
1. Data Collection
We strive to collect minimal personal data. Below are the types of data time[Box] may collect and how they are handled:
- Sign in with Apple: time[Box] uses Apple’s secure authentication system for login. We rely on Apple to verify your identity, so no sensitive personal info (like your real email or name) is obtained by us unless you explicitly choose to share it. Apple provides us with a unique user ID (and an email alias if you opt to share your email). We use this ID only to authenticate you and personalize your experience. We do not store or share your real name or email with any third parties without your permission. (If you use "Hide My Email," we only see an anonymous relay email address, keeping your actual email private.)
- iCloud Storage (CloudKit): time[Box] stores your app data (such as your saved content, notes, or settings) in your private iCloud container associated with your Apple ID. This means your data lives in your own iCloud account — the developer cannot directly see or access the data in your private iCloud database. All your content is synced securely through Apple’s iCloud service. We do not collect or copy this data to our own servers. In the future, if time[Box] introduces features that use a public or shared iCloud database (for example, to share content with others), only the information you deliberately choose to share will be stored in those public/shared databases. Your private data will remain private by default.
- Crash Reports: To help improve the app’s stability, time[Box] may collect anonymous crash and error reports. These crash logs do not include personal information; they simply inform us about what went wrong (for example, which part of the app crashed and under what conditions). Crash reporting is used purely for debugging purposes and to fix issues. We may use Apple’s built-in crash reporting or other similar privacy-focused tools that provide aggregated, anonymized data. Sharing of crash data is often controlled by your device settings (for instance, iOS may ask if you want to share crash reports with app developers).
(We do not collect any other personal data outside of the above, unless you explicitly provide it. For instance, we do not ask for your name, address, or contacts.)
2. How Data Is Used
We use the limited data we collect solely to improve your experience with time[Box]. Specifically, any data and insights are used in the following ways:
- Feature Development and Improvement: We analyze usage trends in an aggregated manner to understand what features are most useful. This analytics information helps us decide which new features to build or which existing features to refine. For example, if we notice many users use a certain tool in the app, we might focus on enhancing that tool or adding more like it. (These analytics are general and do not identify you personally — they simply help us make the app better for everyone.)
- Bug Fixes and Performance: Information like crash reports and performance metrics are utilized to diagnose problems, fix bugs, and improve app stability and speed. For instance, crash logs guide us to the part of the code causing an issue so we can repair it in an update. Performance data (such as how quickly data syncs with iCloud) helps us optimize the app for a smoother experience.
- Feature Personalization: Although we do not profile individual users, we may use your Sign in with Apple ID and settings to personalize your app experience. For example, your user ID lets us retrieve your specific data from iCloud so that when you sign in, you see your own content and preferences. In general, any data about your in-app behavior is used to enhance existing features — for example, if certain workflows are commonly used, we might streamline those in future updates based on user behavior patterns.
Importantly, we do not sell or share your usage data with advertisers or other parties for marketing purposes (see the Advertising section below for more details on future ad plans). All data usage is geared towards making time[Box] more useful and enjoyable for you.
3. User Rights and Control
We believe you should have control over your data. Here are the rights and options you have as a user of time[Box]:
- Data Deletion: You have the right to request deletion of your data. Since your time[Box] content is stored in your personal iCloud account, you can delete this data at any time. For example, deleting the app or turning off time[Box] data in your device’s iCloud settings will remove the app’s data from your iCloud (after iCloud sync). If you need any assistance or have a special request to delete data that we might have (such as crash logs associated with your anonymized ID), please contact us. We will comply with deletion requests in accordance with applicable laws (like GDPR) and will guide you on how to remove data from your iCloud if needed.
- Revoke Sign in with Apple Permissions: Using Sign in with Apple means you can control access through your Apple ID settings. If at any time you no longer want time[Box] to be linked to your Apple ID, you can go to your Apple ID account settings and revoke time[Box]’s access. This will prevent the app from accessing your account via Sign in with Apple in the future (essentially unlinking your time[Box] account from your Apple ID). Keep in mind, revoking access may disable your ability to log in to time[Box] (since it's your login method), but you can always choose to sign in again or create a new account if you change your mind.
- Control Over iCloud Data: Because all your time[Box] data lives in your iCloud, you have full control over it. You can review and manage this data via your device’s iCloud settings. On iOS, for example, you can go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage, and find time[Box] (if listed) to see or delete data. Apple may also provide privacy tools on their website for you to download or delete data associated with apps. We (the developer) do not have direct access to or copies of your content, so the power to manage that data rests with you.
We are committed to honoring your rights. If you have any questions about your data or need help exercising your rights, you can always contact us (see Contact Information at the end of this policy).
4. Advertising
time[Box] is designed to be useful and we plan to keep a free version available with support from advertisements. Here’s what you need to know about our approach to ads:
- Ad-Supported Free Version: The free version of time[Box] may be supported by ads. If you prefer not to see ads, we will offer an in-app purchase (or subscription) that removes ads for an ad-free experience. We believe in giving you the choice: enjoy the app for free with ads, or upgrade to remove ads.
- Current Status (No Ads Yet): As of now, time[Box] does not display any ads. When you use the app today, you will not see any third-party advertisements or banners. We are simply mentioning ads in this policy to be transparent about future plans.
- Future Personalized Ads: In the future, we may introduce advertising in the free version of the app. Some of these ads might be personalized, meaning they could be tailored to you based on your interests or app usage. If we decide to use ads that involve any sort of tracking or personalization, we will comply with Apple’s App Tracking Transparency (ATT) policies and any other relevant privacy laws. This means we will ask for your permission before allowing any tracking of your data across apps or websites for advertising purposes. You will have clear options to manage your ad preferences. For example, you might be able to choose whether to see generic (non-personalized) ads or allow personalization for potentially more relevant ads. Additionally, we will update this Privacy Policy accordingly and inform you of the changes. Your privacy will remain a top priority even as we implement ads.
We want any advertising in time[Box] to be as unobtrusive and respectful as possible. We will never share personally identifiable information with advertisers without your explicit consent. Any advertising partners we work with will be expected to adhere to strict privacy practices.
5. No Location or Health Data Collection
time[Box] does not collect any location data or health data. We do not access your GPS/location services, and we do not integrate with HealthKit or collect health-related information. You will never be asked to share your geographical location, and the app has no functionality to track it. Similarly, we have no features related to health or fitness data. By limiting data collection in this way, we reduce privacy risks and focus only on the information needed to provide our service.
6. Contact Information
